Wild River is her story of the construction of the Dnieper Dam the largest hydroelectric power station in the Ukraine and was the largest in Europe at the time of it's construction. |

Episode 38: Jack Belden was born February 3, 1910 in Brooklyn, New York and died in Paris on June 3, 1989. Jack was an American war correspondent who covered the Japanese invasion of China during the second World War and of the Chinese Revolution. Belden spoke Chinese well and often traveled to the front lines to cover events from the point of the soldiers and the villagers. |

Episode 37: Vicki Baum was born in Vienna into a Jewish family, Baum began writing in her teens. She is most famous for her 1929 novel , which was made into a Academy Award winning film, Grand Hotel. Weeping Wood is a novel about the lives affected by the wants and needs of rubber during World War II. Vicki Baum died of leukemia in Hollywood , California in 1960 . |
